STS-1-2-3-4 Shuttle Flight Crew 4 x 5" original color negative – "outtake". The 8 crew members comprising the first 4 missions are on a stairway leading to the hatch. Shuttle flight crews have an official crew portrait. For the first 4 test flights there was also a combined photo. The photography sessions take about 4 hours and various views and positions are photographed. After the photographic team and crew review the best images, proofs are printed and then the "Official Crew Portrait" is selected. Finally the rest of the scenes are discarded. This original crew negative is one of those rejected – as such it is one of kind.
