Shuttle Program, 1995/2001, Shuttle & MIR Crew-Signed Presentation Plaque (12x17") This English-language plaque is crew signed by nine different Shuttle crews (STS-71, 74, 76, 79, 81, 84, 86, 89, 91) and eight different MIR crews (18-25). These crews represent the "Phase 1 US/Russian Program" of the joint flights. The description on the plaque reads, in part: "Those of us who have worked together to conduct the joint missions between our nations recognize the significance these flights hold for the future of human spaceflight exploration…". The original yellow NASA copy of his Publications and Graphics Work Request is enclosed. It reads, in part"…Design & Prepare a layout for the attached list of flights and a place for the crews to sign them in space…". We can find no proof that they were actually signed in space, BUT, we can say that this signed piece is absolutely unbelievably striking. It may never have been distributed as the consignor has stored this piece in the original Kodak box as received from the Graphics Department. The box is included with this lot. All the autographs are boldly signed with only minimal rubbing. This piece will be the highlight of any collection and will be the last English plaque offered by this consignor.
