Sargent, John Singer (1856-1925) American portrait artist who trained and lived most of his life in Europe. Two Autograph Letters Signed ("John S. Sargent"), both on "Arts Club, Hanover Square stationery with an embossed portrait of Leonardo da Vinci., total of 6 pages, n.d. and March 5, n.y. In French to an unidentified lady. In part: "…I'd be pleased to see you come on the 15th…as well as on the 25th….I have a few engagements all this month for dinner and a few PORTRAIT SESSIONS but I do have many days and evenings to devote entirely to you….the Jourdains…are happy enough at the hotel St. James, Piccadilly….It is a little hotel where French people like to come and it is in a better location than the Longhorn which is a huge caravansary for Americans….at this time everything is expensive in London….Always write to me at 13 Tite St., Chelsea, London…."
