Henri-Jacques-Guillaume-Clarke (1765-1818) General who served as Minister of War to Napoleon and Louis XVIII; 1st Count of Hunebourg, 1st Duke of Feltre, Marshal of France. Letter Signed as Minister of War, 4pp, on official stationery, Paris, Jan. 31, 1817. To Baron Martial-Chomar, commander of the 15th Military Division at Rouen, regarding armed gangs roaming the countryside with the goal of pillage and sedition and giving detailed instructions on how to handle them. Later in 1817, Clarke would leave his post as Minister of War and take over command of the 15th Military Division. François Antoine de Boissy d'Anglas (1756-1828) French statesman during the Revolution, First Republic and Empire. An 1820 Autograph Letter Signed ("Boissy d'Anglas"), 2½pp, 7¾ x 4¾", to an unidentified correspondent. He was a member of the Institut de France and the Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres. In 1819-1821, he published Essai sur la vie et les opinions de M. de Malesherbes.
