Augustus, 27 BC-AD 14. AE Sestertius minted at Rome by Titus, AD 80-81. Radiate figure of Augustus seated left in curule chair, holding wreath and scepter. Reverse: Inscription around "REST" and "S C". RIC Vol. II, Part 1, p. 224, 403 [as Rare]. Glossy, dark brown patina; smoothing in the fields is noted. Sharpness of Extremely Fine.

This lovely coin type is part of a restitutional coinage by Titus in commemoration of Vespasian's deification. It is designed to further the historical link between Augustus (in this case) and the Flavian dynasty.
