Lot 4012

1919 Liberty Walking Half Dollar. PCGS graded MS-65. Although many Philadelphia coins are considered much more common than mintmarked coins of the same date, the Population Reports demonstrate that coins like this 1919 Half Dollar are very scarce in their own right, especially in gem grades as offered here. Only 34 have been graded as such by PCGS, with just 20 graded higher. Compare this with later dates from the 1940s that show thousands of coins graded in gem.
This piece is well struck, and boasts full white luster throughout. Most of Liberty's hand is visible, but lacks the definition on her thumb that is seldom seen on these early issues. One for specialist who needs a full-white gem.
Estimated Value $3,200 - 3,500.

Realized $3,220
