Lot 80

1850 N-7 R2 MS65. Lustrous mint red mellowing to steel brown, about two-thirds of the mint color remaining. No notable spots, stains, or contact marks. In fact it is a challenge to find any identifying marks at all on this attractive cent. The only ones I can find, and it take a good glass to see them, are a microscopic planchet chip on the cheek left of the earlobe and another on the rim above the left edge of the E in STATES, both as struck. M-LDS, die state b. The die lines at the inner curl and main curls are weak and the fields are flowlined. A very nice example, perfect for a high-grade date or type set. Now housed in a PCGS MS65 RB holder. (PCGS # 405881).
Estimated Value $800-UP.
