Jimmy Walker - Corrupt Mayor of New York City (1881-1946) Playboy mayor of New York City (1926-1932); he started as a songwriter, then became a politician with the help of Tammany Hall. He resigned under pressure from Governor Franklin Roosevelt after being accused of accepting bribes from businessmen to influence legislation or obtain contracts for themselves. 8 x 10 in. photo of a dapper Walker holding his hat against his leg, with a group of pals and staff in front of New York's City Hall. Photo by Herbert Mitchell, a celebrity photographer during the 1920s and 30s. Word is that Walker met his second wife, chorus girl Betty Compton, at a midnight party in Mitchell's studio. The photo was never released to the public and remained in Herbert Mitchell's private collection. The original negative accompanies this photo.
