Fatty Arbuckle - Photos and Negatives Never Seen By Him. Five 8 x 10 in. negatives of Arbuckle, with a photographic print of one negative (in a fur coat) and with positive copies of all five (a positive copy is basically a xerox copy made with the sole purpose of showing what the negative images look like; photographic prints can be made from the negatives); in one he wears his signatory droopy pants, boots, and too-small hat and stands with his arms akimbo; the other three are dignified shots in a suit. All negatives are signed in the plate by photographer Herbert Mitchell. In 1933, in an attempt to jump-start his career, he went to Herbert Mitchell for new photographs. Mitchell made these photos and the others of Arbuckle offered in this sale, but Arbuckle dropped dead of a heart attack before he could pick them up. These photos were never seen by Fatty Arbuckle and were never released to the public. They have remained in Mitchell's files for almost 80 years!
Estimated Value $200 - 300.
Ex: Private collection of Herbert Mitchell.
