Lot 184

[Cleghorn, Alexander Scott] Father of Kaiulani and Husband of Likelike. Two personal items Alexander Cleghorn worn on his watch fob: (1) a gold locket 7/8 in. in diameter and engraved with Cleghorn's initials, ASC. Inside are two locks of hair, one from his wife, Miriam Likelike, and one from his daughter, Kaiulani. One lock is darker than the other. Likelike died in 1875 at the age of 36 and Kaiulani died in 1899 at the age of 23. (2) a gold, 3 in. mechanical pencil, engraved AC and still containing lead. Both items are in an old envelope with "Harriet Elizabeth Smith" written on it. The Cleghorns and Smiths are related.
Estimated Value $2,000 - 3,000.
Descended through the Cleghorn family.
