Lot 384

1817 N-11 R1 AU58. This is a lustrous mint state cent but it has a couple faint reddish stains on both sides, including one at stars 7-9, another on the 7 in the date, and a few more on the right side of the reverse. These stains are not obtrusive at all and blend nicely into the frosty bluish steel and olive toning, but the stain at the 7 and the one right and below the T in CENT contain traces of microscopic roughness. Otherwise this cent is choice. MDS. All the dentils remain visible but the fields display very fine radial flowlines. Called MS60 and tied for CC#4 in the Del Bland census. Noyes says MS60 net AU55 and tied for CC#7, his photo #31918.
Estimated Value $400-UP.
