Lot 379

1817 N-9 R2 AU58. Lustrous light steel brown with darker steel brown toning on the highest points of the designs. Tiny peeps of mint color can be found on both sides. Great eye appeal for the grade, about as close to mint state as you can get for an "AU" cent. Sharply struck MDS. The dentils around both sides are clear but there is no trace of the "Mouse" break on top of the head. The nearly vertical die line at the right foot of the first 1 is gone and the vertical line at the throat is weak but still visible. A tiny pinprick on the midpoint of the jawline is a good identifying mark. Called AU55 in the Noyes census, his photo #27226. Removed from a PCGS slab graded MS64BN (old green PCGS label included, #1594.64/7422179).
Estimated Value $400-UP.
