1854. Small date. PCGS graded MS-61 CAC Approved. Lovely delicate golden-orange toning. A popular Red Book variety. The small date variety is the commoner of the two this year. The breakdown of 1854 twenties from the S.S. Central America is interesting with 36 Small Date and 7 Large Date coins recovered. Many collectors and dealers are not aware of the Large Date's existence, nor of their relative rarity and subsequent value until the Red Book started listing them separately.
