1863. NGC graded Proof 68. Star. Fabulous rainbow toning on both sides. This exquisite gem is the finest we have ever seen for this date. Only 460 struck. Heavily frosted motifs and deeply mirrored fields underly the remarkable toning. They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Well, just about anyone with eyes to see and a mind to absorb what is seen will fall in love with this 1863 Seated Liberty coin. The sharp devices seem to be chiseled from living silver and floating luxuriously in a pool of deep mirror surface, such is the overall appearance. Sharp and appealing, and probably the finest Proof example of the date Pop 1; none finer.
