Lot 628

1855 N-9 R1 Knob-on-Ear MS63. Lustrous bluish steel and chocolate with slightly mellowed mint red covering the protected areas on both sides. The surfaces are satiny and offer excellent eye appeal. A subtle swipe of darker steel and olive toning from the dentils right of star 9 to the curl over star 13 is a good identifying mark. MDS, die state d. The "Knob" break over the ear is clearly raised, but the branch under the adjacent Y has not formed. A couple fine cracks do extend a short way down from the base of the Y indicating the branch is just beginning.
Estimated Value $500-UP.
Ex Jack Robinson 4/88-John R. Frankenfield.

Realized $805
