Lot 482

1794 C-6a R5+ G4. Small Edge Letters. Several points sharper but there are a few shallow pitmarks or planchet voids on both sides, mostly at TY into the field before the face and at S-OF on the reverse. No verdigris, just some dull contact marks on both sides, none notable. The center of the reverse appears to bulge outward almost imperceptibly, but the date and legends are complete and easily readable, including HALF CENT. Mostly glossy dark chocolate brown with lighter steel brown and chocolate toning covering the devices. This example offers the eye appeal of a piece several points better than the net grade might suggest. The always-present bulge right of the date is strong and the reverse is rotated 25 degrees CW. Weight 99.9 grains. A quite acceptable lower-grade example of this very rare variety.
Estimated Value $500-UP.
Ex Jack Beymer.
