Kingdom of Thrace. Lysimachos, 323-281 BC. Gold Stater (8.52 g) minted possibly at Pella, 286-281 BC. Diademed head right of the deified Alexander the Great wearing the horn of Ammon above ear. Reverse: Athena Nikephoros enthroned left, holding Nike in her extended right hand, resting left elbow on shield with aegis; in left field, monogram. Cf. Thompson (Essays Robinson) 240 for a similar monogram; SNG Cop --; M. --. Beautiful, highly modeled portrait and fully lustrous. Destined for the finest of collections. Mint State.

A late lifetime issue, likely from the royal mint of Pella, which began striking coins under Lysimachos in 286 BC.
