Sicily, Syracuse, c. 415 BC or slightly later. AR Tetradrachm (17.18 g). Signed on the reverse die by the master artist Sosion. Fast quadriga left; above, Nike flying right, crowning charioteer. Reverse: Head left of Arethusa wearing ampyx on which name of artist has been inscribed in tiny letters; around, four dolphins. Gulbenkian 272 (these dies); Rizzo pl. XLII, 2 (these dies); Basel 455 (these dies). Clearly shows the artist's signature. About Extremely Fine.
