Goldberg Coins and Collectibles

Sale 65

Lot 1042

1824, 4 over 2. B-1. NGC graded VF-20. Nice even toning. A very scarce date. 168,000 minted. According to Mint records, there were no quarters struck in 1824. This is almost certainly part of the 1825 coinage. The reverse die was earlier used for the 1823/2 rarity, then reworked prior to production of this marriage. All show a 4 over 2 Overdate. Although this is the only variety of the year, it is always popular because of its overdate and scarcity.
Estimated Value $1,200 - 1,300.

Realized $2,530
