Robbe, Manuel. Le Livre Abandonné. Size: 11 3/8 in. height x 17 3/16 in. width. Original aquatint, c. 1907, printed in colors on laid paper with the "BFK RIVES" watermark. Hand signed in black crayon within the platemark at lower left. A fine impression of the definitive state, from the edition of approximately 100. Catalog: Weisberg 58. In excellent condition, with strong, fresh colors, printed on a sheet with full margins.

Robbe (1872-1936) studied at the Lycées Condorcet and Louis-le-Grand then at the Académie Julian and the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. He studied etching and aquatint with Eugene Delatre, the great Parisian printer. Robbe exhibited at the Parisian Salons and won a metal at the Paris Exposition Universelle in 1900. Many of his images reflect life in the Belle Epoque, late 19th and early 20th centuries.
