1855 Rifle Musket. In attic condition. Maynard tape primer. With bayonet and original scabbard. Overall light coating of rust, heavier on barrel and lock and PATCH BOX. Stock in very nice used condition; almost imperceptible crack in stock anterior to trigger guard front screw. This is a rare opportunity to purchase the gun most used by Union troops at the very beginning of the Civil War. While many weapons today have seen alterations by gunsmiths and collectors, this gun has not been so altered. Overall length: 56¼". Barrel: 40". Bayonet marked "US J".
