Sweitzer, Albert (1875-1965). Alsatian born philosopher, musician and mission doctor. Schweitzer won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1952 for his efforts on behalf of "the Brotherhood of Nations." He used the accompanying proceeds to help expand his hospital in French Equatorial Africa, building a leper colony. Photograph of Dr. Schweitzer attending one of his patients Signed and Inscribed, "A monsieur Jack Parr avec mes bonnes pensées / Albert Schweitzer. Lambaréné [Gabon] 19 juillet 1965." Matted to 13¼ x 11¼ in. Photo by Erica Anderson, who signed at lower right of image. Ink is a little faded but legible.
