Straus, Oscar S ((1850-1926) U.S. Minister to Turkey (1887-89, 1898-1900); U.S. Secretary of Commerce & Labor (1906-1909) and first U.S. Ambassador to Turkey (1909-1910). As a member of the Paris Peace Conference (1918-1919), he worked to safeguard the rights of Jewish minorities in Europe. Typed Letter Signed, "Oscar S.
