Wellesley, Arthur, Duke of Wellington (1769-1852) British military hero and statesman, best known for his part in defeating Napoleon at Waterloo. Autograph Note Signed "The Duke of Wellington" in the text, 7 x 4½ in., London, August 6, 1829. "The Duke of Wellington has received Mr. Langdons Letter and has it not in his Power to do anything for him." Boldly penned in dark brown ink. Wellington was Prime Minister of England at the time he wrote this letter.
