Lot 1423

ASTP, 1975, NASA "Docking Test" Color Photos. An unusual lot of eight different docking test photos conducted to assess the compatibility of the American and Russian docking hardware. A six-degree of freedom docking simulator was built in the Structures and Mechanics Division Structures Test Laboratory and a team of Russian scientists (and a KGB agent) brought the Russian docking hardware to the NASA Johnson Space Center. In addition to motion, the simulator included an environmental shroud that could expose the hardware to extremely low temperatures to simulate the space environment during testing. A consignor's COA is included. Scarce. ALSO a group of four color photos showing the unique waste management systems used on the Apollo Command Module and the Space Shuttle vehicles. A consignor's COA is included. Interesting.
Estimated Value $150 - 250.
