Apollo 1, 1967, The "Official" Crew Patch (3.5") This is one of the genuine "official" patches as given to the consignor by Gus Grissom after it was manufactured. Included is a copy (originals on file) of two notes found with the patches. One is a NASA card giving the official nomenclature of the patch. The other is a handwritten note stating that "one patch was (sent) to the White House per Ed ??? 7/22/69". Also included is a printed declaration from Bobbie Slayton dated 3/13/06 that reads: "This is to certify that this Apollo 1 crew patch belonged to my husband, Deke Slayton, and was given to him by Gus Grissom. It was locked in his safety deposit box along with other memorabilia. This patch is genuine in all respects". The patch has a manufacturer's tag on the reverse that reads: "Stylized Emblem Co. Hollywood, CA 90038". Extremely rare and highly desirable.
