Great Britain. Medal, 1688. Med. Ill. I. p. 621,36 (Pl. LXV, 9). Silver. 60 mm. Struck in Holland by Jan Smeltzing. James II. The Seven Bishops Imprisoned. Obverse: The White Tower of London were the Bishops were committed for opposing the Declaration of Indulgence issued by James II, and for refusing to allow it to e read in their churches. Reverse: Sun and Moon equally balanced in scales suspended from clouds. Minor rim bump and a few file marks on the edge. Attractively toned. Extremely Fine.
