Lot 1049

1901-S. PCGS graded MS-65. Well struck and mostly white. A sparkling coin bursting with luster, untoned and brilliant in appearance. The surfaces are clear of marks save for a couple of little ticks below the eye and a few grazes in the frost before the face. This minor points in no way remove the coin from easily satisfying the requirements for a Gem MS65 grade. The only weak spot in the strike is seen at the topmost hair curls above Liberty's ear. The eagle's breast (which sometimes mimics this weakness, is, on the contrary, as strongly detailed as any we have seen and makes this side of the coin all the more impressive. A worthy candidate! Pop 218; 28 finer, 27 in 66, 1 in 67 (PCGS # 7276) .
Estimated Value $2,300 - 2,400.
