Lot 103

1853 N-25 R1 Repunched 1. PCGS graded MS-65 Red. Lustrous bright original mint red that covers the entire planchet except for a stain of dark steel toning at ES in STATES. No other marks or spots worthy of mention. MDS, die state b. The repunching under the 1 remains visible and the fields are covered with fine radial die flowlines that create attractive cartwheel luster. A very impressive example of this relatively common die variety. Most likely from the Kosoff hoard. Our grade is net MS64+, close to MS65. Comes in an old green label PCGS holder. PCGS population 59; 13 in 66RD, 1 in 67RD.
Estimated Value $2,000-UP.
