1798 S-166 R1 Style II Hair with Large 8 VG8. Sharpness F15 but the obverse is covered with light contact marks including a stronger scratch from the lower end of the ribbon to the curl at the shoulder. All the contact marks blend perfectly into the natural toning, but there are far too many than normal for the sharpness grade. The reverse, however, is very nice with only a short, dull scratch just right of the second S in STATES. Glossy chocolate with slightly darker steel brown toning on the highpoints. LDS, Breen state VI. The die crack that arcs through the fraction and E in UNITED is strong and the reverse is rotated 35 degrees CCW relative to the normal head-to-foot die orientation. The date and legends are complete and easily readable.
