Lot 827
1798/7 S-152 R2 Overdate Large 8 over 7 F12. Sharpness VF20 but there are too many light contact marks for that grade including a hairline scratch from the hair ribbon to the throat. The planchet is smooth, void of corrosion or verdigris except for four very tiny pitmarks that contain greenish verdigris in their bottoms. Two of these are located on the neck and the other two are in the field off the lower end of the ribbon. Mostly glossy chocolate brown mixed with darker olive brown. MDS, Breen state II, with an obvious wave in the field under the ribbon. The date and overdate are bold.
