1843 N-17 R6- Mature Head VF30+. Glossy chocolate brown with frosty light brown faded down from mint color in protected areas. There are a few light contact marks on the obverse, the strongest of these a dull nick right of star 3, and another in the field at the forehead. EDS, die state a (there is no state b). The fine die lines are sharp. The coronet tip and hair over the ear are not quite fully struck up, as usual for this variety. Close to VF35. CC#3 in the Grellman census for this rare die variety. DWH #2030.
