1854 N-13 R3 MS63. Choice lustrous light bluish steel brown with 10% of the original mint red remaining, mostly on the obverse. The fields are covered with satiny mint frost and the surfaces are virtually flawless. The only defect, and it is not at all distracting, is a small planchet-cutter crease on the outer edge of the rim over star 7, as struck. LDS, die state c. The die lines up from the dentils under the 54 are gone and the fields are covered with fine die flowlines. Tied for CC#2 in the Grellman census. DWH #2211.
Estimated Value $400-UP.
Ex Dr. Ken Sartoris-Denis Loring 7/72-R. E. Naftzger, Jr. (via Bill Noyes) 1/10/03.
