1854 N-12 R2 Repunching Below 1 AU58. Mint state sharpness but the rim was lightly smoothed at star 11 and over ST in STATES, most likely to remove rim nicks or light rim bruises. Otherwise free of distractions. Lustrous light steel brown with darker steel toning on the highpoints and traces of faded mint color remaining in a few of the protected areas. M-LDS, die state b late. The dash from repunching under the upright of the 1 is very dull and barely visible and the diagonal die lines up from the dentils under the 54 are gone. The fields are rough from die flowlines. Removed from an NGC slab graded MS64BN (NGC label included, and it shows the attribution and Reiver provenance). DWH #3016.
