Lot 359

1849 N-11 R1 Repunched 1 MS60+. Frosty light steel brown with 10% of the mint red remaining. The surfaces are satiny and very attractive. There are some very light hairline scratches on the cheek and neck and a faint speck of reddish brown toning on the right point of star 1. Excellent eye appeal in spite of the trivial defects. Extremely rare LDS, die state f, with a strong rim cud break from the ribbon tip to the right side of the U, plus additional tiny rim cud breaks under the ribbon end and left end of the ribbon loop. The terminal state has an additional strong rim cud under the ribbon loop, and this piece has a crack on the rim outlining where that cud is forming. Finest of only 5 known in this die state. Removed from an NGC slab graded MS65BN. The attribution is noted on the NGC label, which is included. DWH #2525.
Estimated Value $400-UP.
