Kingdom of Macedon. Alexander III, the Great, 336-323 BC. Gold Distater (17.12 g) minted in Macedon, likely at Aegeae, lifetime issue of c. 336-323 BC. Head right of Athena wearing triple-crested helmet, decorated with snake. Reverse: Nike standing left, holding wreath and stylis; in left field, thunderbolt; under her right wing, monogram. Price 191; Müller 5; SNG Cop 623; Dewing 1134. A few light, insignificant nicks at bottom of reverse. Luster remaining in devices. Very Fine to Extremely Fine.

The Dewing example also has a wide rim on the reverse. A handsome example of this rare and impressive denomination!
