Lot 2674

1902, $20 National Bank Note. The Farmers & Merchants NB, Santa Ana, CA. PCGS Very Fine 20PPQ. Fr-643. . KL-1294. This is Santa Ana's scarcest bank, issuing for less than 14 years before closing in 1919. Only four notes are known from here, with our data showing that only three times in sixty years has any example from this bank been available to the collecting fraternity, once in the 1990 Krakover sale, and this note twice in the Colver collection sale of 1999 and the Horwedel sale of 2004. This attractive pen signed Date Back realized $2,420 in the Colver sale and more than $5,000 in the Horwedel sale. It is fully original and problem-free for the grade, and is likely to approach or exceed its realization from more than six years ago.
Estimated Value $3,000 - 5,000.
The William Pannier Estate.

Realized $6,038
