Lot 195

1847 N-10 R3+ MS60. Glossy faded red mellowing to steel brown, at least a third of the red remaining. Possibly dipped long ago but the toning is attractive and the surfaces are lustrous. There is a small spot of darker toning at the tip of the nose and a dusting of carbon specks on the lower portion of the neck. E-MDS, die state a. The fields are satiny from microscopic die flowlines but the die lines on the reverse are clear. (There is no state b for this variety.) Tied for CC#4. Comes with a very nice provenance. DWH #2064.
Estimated Value $400-UP.
