1847 N-8 R3 AU58. Mint state sharpness but lightly cleaned and retoned frosty dark steel brown with lighter brown toning in protected areas. Satiny luster covers the fields and protected areas and this cent offers excellent eye appeal. A thin nick close along the profile of the tip of the nose and a trace of fine carbon in the dentils over the E in UNITED are the only notable marks. Rare terminal die state, die state d, with strong rim cud breaks at AM and S-O. CC#3 of only 8 known with both rim cuds, and the cuds are strong on this piece. Removed from an NCS slab graded Uncirculated details environmental damage (NCS label included, and it shows the attribution and Reiver provenance). DWH #2982.
