1846 N-14 R2 Tall Date Repunched 1 AU58. Glossy medium brown and chocolate with a small swipe of darker olive brown toning over star 12 and hints of bluish steel overtone in protected areas of the reverse. Just a hint of rub on the highest points from mint state. The best identifying mark is a tiny planchet void on the rim over the second S in STATES, as struck. Rare LDS, die state b, with a rim cud break under the 18. The repunching over the base of the 1 is clear. Tied for CC#6 for the die variety but finest of only 7 known in this die state. Removed from an NGC slab graded MS65 Brown (NGC label included, and it shows the attribution). DWH #2530.
