1846 N-1 R1 Repunched 18 MS60. Lustrous bluish steel brown and chocolate. Close to choice except for a couple tiny contact marks on the cheek and a splash of darker toning at the coronet tip, and this stain contains traces of extremely fine roughness visible under strong magnification. Otherwise this cent offers razor-sharp detail and outstanding eye appeal. EDS, die state a. The obverse die is uncracked and the fields are satiny. The repunching on the 18 is bold. Tied for CC#2 honors among those known in this rare die state. Removed from an NGC slab graded MS62BN (NGC label included, and it shows the attribution and Reiver provenance). DWH #2971.
Estimated Value $400-UP.
