Lot 834

1798 S-154 R4+ Style I Hair with Large 8 PCGS graded AU50. Sharpness near mint state but the highpoints are covered with microscopic scuffmarks and hairline scratches. All these marks blend perfectly into the medium brown and chocolate toning. The only notable mark is a spot of darker olive toning at the upper junction of the M & E in AMERICA. Mint frost covers the protected areas on both sides. Nicely struck EDS, Breen state I, showing clear die clashmarks on the reverse and swelling at AMER. Too bad about the faint marks because this piece would have been very high in the condition census. Our grade is net VF30. The PCGS label mentions the "1st Hair Style" feature. Pop 4; 19 finer at PCGS in BN.
Estimated Value $2,500-UP.
