Lot 775

1794 S-48 R5 Starred Reverse PCGS graded Fair-2. The obverse sharpness is better, especially on the portrait, but the reverse displays more wear. Very fine porosity covers portions of the obverse, and this roughness nearly obliterates the date. LIBERTY is weak but remains readable. The reverse is smooth, just heavily worn. However, at least a third and maybe closer to half of the 94 tiny stars remain visible from K-5 clockwise to K-11. No verdigris or notable marks. Rather glossy olive and dark steel with lighter chocolate brown toning on the highpoints. Our grade is consistent with the slab grade. The "Starred Reverse" feature is noted on the PCGS label.
Estimated Value $6,000-UP.

Realized $6,900
