Lot 707

1809 C-1 R4 VG10. Five points sharper with extremely faint roughness under the rather glossy olive brown and chocolate patina. No verdigris and only a few minor contact marks. These include a faint rim bruise at star 11 and a faint hairline scratch in the field above the head, and a small rim nick under the 9 in the date. MDS, Manley state 2.0, with a fine die crack through the top of MERICA. The obverse is properly centered on the planchet but the reverse is off a bit to K-12. A decent example of a variety that is extremely difficult to find nice. Not quite in the condition census, but not far removed either.
Estimated Value $2,000-UP.
Ex Doug Bird.
