Lot 704
1808/7 C-2 R3 Overdate 8 over 7 VF20. Mostly glossy light olive and chocolate brown with subtle overtones of sea green and light bluish steel in protected areas. Nice surfaces with only a few minor defects, including a small patch of microscopic roughness just right of the date and a couple light contact marks at ES in STATES. A very tiny planchet clip weakens a few dentils above the B in LIBERTY, and this feature can help identify the coin. EDS, Manley state 1.0, showing only a faint die crack through the top of RTY. The overdate feature is obvious. A nice example of this popular overdate variety.
