Lot 673

1800 C-1 R2 EF45. Slightly sharper with a thin line (similar to a planchet cutter impression) arcing on the bust above the second 0 in the date. A similar arc shows on the reverse just right of OF. These may be mint-made errors, but that isn't certain and they do catch your eye. Otherwise this piece is quite nice and offers excellent eye appeal. Frosty dark steel and olive with lighter tan and steel brown toning faded down from mint color in the protected areas. Satiny mint luster shows on both sides. Nicely struck M-LDS, Manley state 4.0. The curl left of the date is incomplete from die polishing. In addition, there is a fine double profile on the tip of the nose, lips, neck, and the 18 in the date (all from die bounce).
Estimated Value $750-UP.
