Lot 3761

1853 $2.50 Liberty. PCGS graded MS-64 PQ. CAC Approved. Lovely deep orange toning. Well struck and very choice. This conditionally elusive contribution to the sale is warmly toned with rich frosty gold surfaces. Impressive too is the color, which we find is free of censure, being beautiful in all areas. Furthermore, judged from an aesthetic standpoint, the coin is also possessed of a much finer strike than is typically found for an 1850's decade Liberty Quarter Eagle. The important Coinage Act of 1853 was passed this year, significantly modifying the relationship between America's gold and silver coins. Pop 60; 5 finer, 4 in 65, 1 in 66 (PCGS # 7767) .
Estimated Value $1,600 - 1,700.
