Lot 3623

1874 Liberty Seated Quarter Dollar. Arrows. PCGS graded Proof 64. CAC Approved. Nice golden toning. Only 700 struck. Two-year Type. Excellent detail from a fine impression by the dies, the surfaces show sharp silver color beneath the natural patina acquired over the years. The strike is strong, and best with clear definition to the high points and stars. The Coinage Act of February 12, 1873 lowered the weight of the quarter to 6.22 grams from 6.25 grams. To denote this change, arrows were added to the obverse at both sides of the date in 1873-74, a practice that was discontinued in 1875. Pop 62; 42 finer (PCGS # 5575) .
Estimated Value $1,900 - 2,000.
