1851 C-1 R1 VG8. Clipped Planchet. Slightly sharper but there are a few dull, light scratches in the obverse fields. Smooth and attractive in spite of the minor marks. Glossy medium brown with darker chocolate toning on the high points. A curved planchet clip eliminated the dentils at stars 11-12 and over ME in AMERICA. The obverse dentils across from the clip are weakly impressed, the so-called Blakesly effect seen on most pieces with significant planchet clips. Davy #51.1.16.
