1787 Britannia Vermont. . RR-13. NGC graded VF-30 Brown. Due to the fact these were made purposely to look like worn coins, the Britannia reverse variety is always graded by the obverse, with indistinct detail on the reverse the norm. Deep steel brown with light granular surfaces, pleasing overall. The Breen encyclopedia explains it this way: "rev. always weak, date not legible, possibly ground off after it had been used with 4 different Tory copper obvs." A popular Red Book variety with a long history of interest among America's earliest, most sophisticated numismatists.
Estimated Value $500 - 550.
